about us

Kim McCullough

ArtzHub Artist/ Founder - Kim McCullough earned her BFA at Buffalo State College in 1999 and moved to NC in 2000. Over the last 24 years she’s dedicated her life to teaching art to creative kids ages 5-85. The simple, profound concept that drawing is a teachable skill is gently reinforced through her proven step-by-step method of teaching in every art making experience.

With decades of experience as an enrichment specialist, Kim believes - now more than ever - there are no mistakes in art.

Amanda Brady

Amanda is a dual language elementary school teacher at Frank Porter Graham Bilingüe. She earned her Bachelor of Science in World Language Education and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Georgia in 2013 right before moving to Chapel Hill. Her love of language, teaching and art have led her to combine her talents and passions as an ArtzHub art instructor.

Amanda is currently on maternity leave. She will return to teaching after school art at FPG in the fall of 2024.

Ianary Guteirrez

Ianary is a dual language elementary school TA at Frank Porter Graham Bilingüe. She’s an assistant for us, too, in our weekly after school art classes at the same school. She works with our lead instructors to help them manage the class so that it runs smoothly for all involved. Ianary is delightful and warm hearted. We’re grateful to have her help!

Miriam Jeffries

Miriam trained and started teaching for us at TES in the Spring of 2023. She has years of experience working with children at a very large, very popular camp in Efland that she and her husband oversee together. She’s the mom of three active boys and is an avid gardener. Her art degree coupled with her friendly, warm personality make her an excellent addition to our team.

Miriam will be stepping back from her role as lead teacher for the 2024-2025 school year but is graciously on stand-by as a substitute for all locations. We’re grateful to have her as back up!

Pat Christie

Pat is a retired Montessori school teacher that assists ArtzHub art instructors at multiple locations. Her easy going personality is matched by a incredible work ethic - a rare combination that we are very thankful for! She brings a wealth of experience working with children to each and every class/club she assists with. Miss Pat always makes sure our students feel supported, seen and heard.

Julie Byrne

Primarily a self-taught artist, Julie spent many years in her home state of Minnesota running a popular and successful decorative painting and mural business before retiring to North Carolina in 2012. These days she still enjoys painting for fun as well as volunteering at the Duke Lemur Center and in the Duke Forest. She loves learning and feels that teaching art step-by-step can help anyone see how they can draw and paint their world.

Julie is an interim lead art instructor and a stand-by substitute for ArtzHub classes, clubs and camps. She is vital to keeping things going when an instructor is unable to teach and we all appreciate her so much!

Susan Richards

Susan is a newly trained ArtzHub instructor and we’re thrilled to welcome her to our team. With over 30 years of experience working with children in a variety of settings, she’s a dedicated and accomplished educator as well as a certified Art Therapist. Her gentle approach and artistic skills are a wonderful combination that we are very much looking forward to offering to our families.

Susan will teach after school art classes starting in the fall of 2024.

Renee Fernandini

Renee hails from Peru and is our second dual-language art instructor. Newly trained, she is currently the maternity sub for Amanda Brady at FPG, where she conducts our weekly after school art class in Spanish. Although she has a Masters Degree in Computer Design and worked for the majority of her career in that field - she’s very pleased that her undergraduate degree in studio art is no longer on the back burner! Her strong drawing skills coupled with her adaptability make her an excellent addition to our growing team.

Renee will teach after school art classes in the fall of 2024.

Lien Bradford

A native of Vietnam, Lien leveraged her degree in Foreign Trade and Management with her experience on the job establishing ceramics factories in her home country to springboard forward into her own entrepreneurial enterprise. She founded and operated her own business that imported ceramic elements from Italy, Spain and France and supplied them to ceramic tile factories in Vietnam. In 2009, she moved to the US and worked with her husband in his law practice. Now - Miss Lien is training to be an official ArtzHub camp assistant! We can hardly believe our luck! She is incredibly kind, resourceful and creative. We are lucky, indeed, to have her join our team!

Miss Lien will assist at camp starting in summer 2024.

Howard Shang

A retired I.T. professional, Howard volunteers once a week to help with an after school art class that his daughter attends. His kindness, humor and generosity translates very well in a setting that is simultaneously outside his comfort zone and fun. He’s particularly helpful with hesitant new students and has been enormously helpful, all around.

Gwynne MacIntyre

Gwynne is a retired school teacher with 20 years of experience in elementary education. She received her education Masters degree from the University of Tennessee. Before that, she organized and led a variety of interesting creative ventures with the the Knoxville Arts Council, the Greensboro United Arts Council as well as the N.C. School of the Arts.  She also studied music at Mary Washington University, and earned an Arts Administration Master’s Degree at Indiana University.

Gwynne was a lead after school art teacher for us in the past. After a one year hiatus, she returned as a volunteer in January 2024. We’re happy to share that she’ll continue an assistant in the 2024-2025 school year. Welcome back, Miss Gwynne!
